19 April 1996 32-bit NXSYS (update 11 December 1996)

Please read "readme.txt" if you have not already. This file
contains only additional information about the 32-bit version of NXSYS.

The 32-bit version of NXSYS is to be preferred for modern Windows(tm)
environments. The reason for producing it was to provide better
performance and be in step with the 32-bit environments of Windows 95
and Windows NT, under both of which it has been tested (US 4.00.950
SP1 and US 3.51 Server and Workstation, respectively). Results under
Win32s under Win3.1/WFW vary.

This zipfile contains only the 32-bit version.

The 32-bit executable file name is NXSYS32.EXE. It can be
distinguished during operation by info in the "Help|About" menu, and
the red number "32" in the program icon. Like NXSYS.EXE, it can be
invoked from program manager/desktop etc. or the command prompt, and
its optional argument is a track file to load. The helpfile is in
two parts, nxsys32.hlp and nxsys32.cnt, as standard with 32-bit
helpfiles. The helpfile is 32-bit specific and cannot be used by
16-bit NXSYS.

As the Win32 runtime operating environment is very different than the
Windows 3.1 runtime environment, compiled track object files for
Windows 3.1 NXSYS cannot be used with NXSYS32. 32-bit track object
files compiled into 32-bit code by the 32-bit relay compiler
(supplied) must be used. A 32-bit compiled version of the sample
interlocking PROGMAN.TRK, PRGMAN32.TKO, is supplied, and should be
loaded instead of PROGMAN.TKO. The sample Islington interlocking is
also provided as source (isling.trk) and compiled code (islingtn.tko).

Otherwise, there are no functional changes and no documentation
changes. The helpfile content is identical between versions, although
the 32-bit version alone offers the convenient system
"finder/searcher" dialog.

The relay compiler, tools, and documentation are no longer supplied
in this zipfile. They are in rlycmp32.zip in this directory, and
are 32-bit only. disptk32.exe, however, which displays info
about compiled files, 16 or 32 bit, but is a 32-bit program itself,
is supplied here.

A 32-bit version of DEMO1.XDO, demo1-32bit.xdo, is supplied as well,
and must be used with the 32-bit NXSYS, as it will load prgman32.tko
instead of progman.tko.

As of 11 December 1996, the 32-bit distribution also contains the
3-D cab graphics DLL, NXGLVIEW.DLL. Keep this in NXSYS32's directory.
In order to use the Cab View feature, you will need OpenGL, which
you have if you use Windows NT, may have if you use Windows 95,
and cannot have of you use Windows 3.1 or 3.11. See the helpfile
section "3-D Cab View Graphics" for more info on this.
